This magnificent 1 kg copper coin is dedicated to the giant panda that lives in central China and is known for its love of eating bamboo.
The obverse of the coin features the coat of arms of Benin with the inscription: "REPUBLIQUE DU BENIN" - the issuing country, "1500 FRANCS CFA" - the denomination and "2023" - the year of issue.
The reverse of the coin depicts a giant panda, listed as a vulnerable animal. A voracious eater of bamboo, the giant panda is depicted eating the leaves of this tree, which is widespread in Asia. The inscriptions across the reverse are "THE GIANT PANDA" for the coin's name and "1KG .999CU" for the coin's weight and copper purity.
